A faith-based theatrical hit about a hippie-led revival is the top-selling movie on Amazon.
Jesus Revolution (PG-13), which grossed more than $50 million at the box office, soared to No. 1 on Amazon’s “Best Sellers in Movies & TV” chart in recent days and remained there on Monday, topping such titles as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
In fact, Jesus Revolution held the top two slots, with the DVD edition holding the No. 1 spot and the Jesus Revolution Blu-ray edition landing at No. 2. Both will release on April 25. The Super Mario Bros. Movie – which has not been released – was No. 3 based on preorders. The 1993 film Super Mario Bros was No. 4, followed by John Wick: Chapter 4 at No. 5 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania at No. 6. Jesus Revolution also is available on digital home video.
The film follows the true story of Greg Laurie, Chuck Smith and Lonnie Frisbee, who helped launch a nationwide revival in the 1960s and 1970s.
“I think people are hungry in our nation spiritually,” Laurie wrote in a tweet, noting the top position on Amazon. “There are many indications of this across the board. One of them is the interest in this film about the last great spiritual awakening that swept our nation called the Jesus Movement. … I think a lot of people heard about this film in the theaters and want to see for themselves. I pray that many will come to Christ and have their faith revived watching @JesusRevMovie.”
